ERMAHGERD! NER CERMPERTER!!!

PCIt finally came, the day is here! I spent a good portion of the afternoon going to pick it up but it’s home now! I’m going to fiddle with it some more, install an optical drive and SSD. Afterwhich I will install all my software and drivers and then I am going to go rub one out because I AM SO EXCITED! ERMAHGERD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Jaw Drop*

I just came across this video earlier today created using UE4. I just love the natural-looking lighting.

Just imagining this with that extra layer of lived-in Out Of Hell-grime makes my nipples hard. UUUUGGGHHH I can’t wait!

(New PC arrives in another 5 to 10 days)

Almost Time!

I’ve got all my computer parts all picked out and ready to order. It will be a really nice machine for Development and Gaming! The main stuff: Intel Core i7 I7-4790 Haswell 3.6GHZ Processor, G.SKILL F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL Ripjaws X 16GB, GIGABYTE GTX 970 G1 1329MHZ 4GB 7.0GHZ

That should run UE4 without any hiccups! Overall, I was surprised that it wasn’t as expensive as I thought it would be. The first computer I ever bought back in the day cost me around 1700 before taxes and is probably weaker than the phone that I have now! This new rig costs much, much less.

There were a couple of things occurring in my life that I needed to save (and use) my money on but now I can finally go ahead and buy that new machine that I’ve been waiting for. With some of my free time since, I’ve been able to tighten up a lot of loose ends in the script, expanded on several gameplay elements and added some really awesome twists to the original plot!

A lot of free-roaming and exploring in the design, randomized events and item/monster placements, a huge skill tree for you to customize the Character, multiple endings…Man! Reading through it again makes me really restless and squirmy because I just can’t wait to present it! I firmly believe that even seasoned Out Of Hell Fans will be caught off-guard and find a lot of surprises in the new game. Character cameos, Easter Eggs and secrets will abound!

I should mention that I’m kind of entertaining a Multiplayer component too but I’m approaching it with sort of a ‘I’ve got a couple of ideas in the back of my head that may or may not work.’ attitude, so it is what it is. The Singleplayer Story Mode and Survival Mode are my top priorities but I think it would be nice if there was to be some sort of Deathmatch and/or Multiplayer Survival mode added onto it. That would definitely require a Programming team but it’s still pretty far down the road so we will see!

Crashed But Not Burning!

Hello Hello! This is just an update of sorts explaining what I’ve been up to! There is some news but some of it is bad.

I have actually been ‘Computerless’ for some time! I had two computers; one for Development and one for games/internet etc. The one I used for recreation suddenly died while I was in the middle of doing something. It crashed, I restarted, it entered into a rebooting loop and I couldn’t do anything else with it. It seemed to be the hard drive that went belly up but it didn’t matter since there was nothing of importance on it…except oodles and oodles of fantastic porn! *sad face*

About 3 days later my Development computer began making loud, whirring, grinding noises. It turned out the fans inside were caked in dust and fuzzy crap and I assumed that it was the cause (either that or some sort of Leprechaun haunting but those were wiped out in the 80’s…weren’t they?) So the next morning before work, I left it in the care of someone who was going to take it to their workplace (they had an industrial air compressor) to blow all the fuzzy crap (or Leprechauns) out of the PC.

That evening, it was given back to me looking spotless so I plugged everything in and turned it on and……Nothing. The motherboard lights weren’t coming on and no power was going into it. I tried fixing it but had no success. I gave up and that was that; two dead computers in a span of a few days.

I was able to take my hard drives someplace to get them checked out and the good news is that all the data is safe. I have extreme paranoia about losing my work (some of you will remember I’ve lost work in the past due to not backing up regularly) so I actually have multiple hard drives with all my current work on it. My only wish was that I had taken some screenshots of the work I was doing up until the crash to show you all. More weapons (including a new version of the original Silverman 9mm which is now a .45) and creatures were created since the last vehicle update.

The good news is that I am at least back online now. I got a really old computer that should allow me to do stuff online again though not powerful enough for Development (it is a Pentium 3 or something)

I will be getting a nice new system soon (i7, GeForce GTX 970, Leprechaun counter-measures) and I will be back to Developing so check back or join the mailing list!

I’m Still Around!

I hope everyone has had a nice X-Mas holiday and New Year! I haven’t done much developing since the last post because of work, however, the busy season is over and my schedule is more relaxed now. I’ll be able to get back on the horse pretty soon and do more regular updates! See you then!

Busy Season!

Hello! I’ve decided to update with the last of the vehicles that I was working on. I can’t imagine needing anymore vehicle types; I think I have my bases covered in that respect!

Ve1Ve2

It’s been a year since I’ve started the new job and man, how the time has flown. I worked really hard to excel at it (it wasn’t until recently that I worked up to 6-day weeks and usually had split weekends if I didn’t!) and am now in a position where I can actually fund this project to some extent. The busy season is upon us in my line of work but I will still be hammering away on Out Of Hell as I always have!

It was such a shame that the previous Sculpt Modeler was unable to continue work due to pressing responsibilities that came up. I haven’t been able to find a suitable replacement since but I continue to leave the door open. What I would be looking for is someone who would take a pre-made, unwrapped medium poly model and detail it in ZBrush. You would then send me back AO and Normal bakes as well as the high-poly sculpt. That’s it.

If this is something that interests you, email me with a link to your portfolio and a ballpark quote for pricing and we’ll see where it goes!

More Vehicles

Just dropping another update on the vehicles; this time with rigs and military trucks and a military jeep. All the vehicles so far may be missing some really minor details and some optimizations but that would be taken care of before I import them into the engine. I’ll probably be using a polygon reducer on these models since they’re static objects and don’t have any organic bendy parts that might deform improperly during animation!

Trucks

So, I have a change in plans on how I am going to approach what to do next. Originally with Out Of Hell (UT2K4 Mod) I did most of my mapping before I did animations and importing. The problem with that method is that mapping can take a really long time to do and I got caught up in the mapping and neglected everything else. What I’m going to do this time is I am going to finish all the animations for the characters, creatures and weaponry. Once the animations are complete, I am going to import all those items into the engine and get that all working first before I start any mapping. I figure that this way, it would make testing how the map flows for gameplay much easier if I could have things to shoot and run from as I go along.

There is some unfortunate news in that the Artist (Julia Pishtar) that did the detail sculpting for some of the monster and character models up until this point is unable to do any more work for the next little while. I am unsure when she will be able to return to it so I will be doing that myself from now on. I am however, keeping the door open for any other Artist who may be interested. What I need is someone with experience in ZBrush or MudBox who would take a low/medium poly model I have created, sculpt in the fine details (for example: wrinkles, muscle tone) and then send me the Ambient Occlusion and Normal bakes for it. This would be a paid, work-for-hire contract and if this is something that interests  you, feel free to drop me a line through email (do not respond in this post) with a link to your portfolio or other examples of your work, a general price quote and we can talk!
